SUPPORTING President Bush is not just socially suicidal in this town — it can endanger your career and cost you big bucks, as one cabby discovered the hard way.Haitian-born Etzer Jerome was fined $500 and had his license suspended three weeks — a loss of some $5,000 — simply because, he says, he committed a new kind of infraction: Backing Bush While Black.
"I'm a Bush man," Jerome, 49, told me while recounting a story that couldn't happen anyplace else.

Elizabeth Grainger asked for a ride to 116th Street. He dropped his sandwich, and they drove off.
And then, the young woman brought up politics.

"Do you like Bush?" Grainger asked Jerome.
"I voted for Bush!" Jerome said he answered.
At that, he contends, Grainger, who is white, spat: "How can a black man vote for Bush?" And she asked him to stop the cab.
Jerome said she jumped out, paid her fare — but only after he tapped the horn — and got into another cab. But, first, he said, she shouted, "I'm going to eff you."
Grainger filed a complaint against Jerome with the TLC, charging him with harassment.
At a June 16 hearing, Grainger testified, tearfully, that Jerome had threatened and verbally abused her.

Schwartz found Jerome guilty, and slapped him with the fine and suspension. Jerome's appeal was tossed without a hearing.
Reached last night, Grainger, 30 said she felt "terrorized" by Jerome, who she said initially refused to let her out of his cab.

One would have to see the court testimony. Does anyone have that? Was there a written decision? Is that available?
It comes down to a "he said, she said" situation, and since she was the one who instituted the complaint that may have played a large part in the judge's decision.
Recall the "diverse" rent-a-mob groups in Washington, DC, during President Bush's inauguration in 2000. For four years they have been protesting every single day about the "stolen" election.
These liberals are capable of ANYTHING. It is both possible and probable that they will attempt to provoke a civil war. But first, they will erode our civil rights and liberties even faster and more furiously than they already have been doing. And, like Janet Reno, the Clintonista Butcher of Waco, they will claim that the "rule of law" is on their side.
Curious, that many liberal commentators have for a long time claimed victory in the culture wars!

The TLC is not exactly known for its fair hearings. Angry passengers routinely file complaints against cabbies because the cabbies have to spend time filing a response and showing up for the hearing ... even if the complainant doesn't. They can lose a day's pay just sitting around waiting for their case to be called, and if they don't show up, their licenses are almost always suspended.

Obviously if she changed cabs, something happened. Did he bring up the subject or did she?
You should remind these leftest that is was the democrat polititions back in the late 50s , early 60s who were the ones, not the republicans ( even Ike sent the national gard down south to enforce civil rights ) the democrats were the ones who were suppressing the black vote in the south.
It was the democrats after the civil war during recontruction whoh were the ones who were supressing, the blacks from running for congress ( I saw this on the history channel ) , it was the democrats who were the ones whoh wanted to bring back slavery after Abe freed the black people.
So, when the democrats cry about how the republicans are racist, trying to suppress the blacks is a lie, if the democrats were to look at their own history, it's the democrats who are the ones who have a history of suppressing the blacks, and after the civil war were trying to bring back slavery.
I wish the black people would wake up, and see how HYPOCRITICAL THE DEMOCRATS REALLY ARE.
