I started listening to Rush again, for the first time in several years. He is unfailingly optimistic, which is very calming.
I am also drinking many pots of tea, and trying to avoid TV news.
I remember every day the beautiful faces of our military - fine young men and women in harm's way - the best of us fighting in the worst places. Their bravery is what it is all about, not the rantings of some liberal Democrat threatening to pollute this election and take away the Presidency from someone who honors our brave men and women.
I remember and honor young Matthew who just got to Iraq in September (he is in the Army), was wounded last Friday in a car bombing, and is now in a hospital in Germany fighting for his life. Thinking of this sad event does not lift my spirits but his patriotism and bravery and that of all of his fellow soldiers enriches our souls.
I thank my dear friends here at FR who immediately responded to my sadness at his grave condition ( He is related to my daughter's fiancee and is badly wounded)
I run to FR because I have not found such dear, kind, smart, compassionate and witty people anywhere. You folks are an oasis.
