Democrats are Losing the Women Vote on Abortion and Security By Joseph Taranto. Posted 10/20/2004 2:53:00 PM

According to a new Survey USA poll, pro-life voters favor George W. Bush by 46 points, while pro-choice voters only favor Kerry by only 30 points.

The issue of abortion always causes divisions in America and Bush and Kerry virtually on opposite sides of the spectrum.

The poll provides data from 28 key states, including nearly all the battleground states. For example, in Arizona Bush leads Kerry among pro-life voters by 50 points. Kerry only leads Bush among pro-choice voters by 14.

In Nevada, Bush leads among pro-life voters by 54 points, while only trailing Kerry by 15 points among pro-choice voters.

The results indicate that a strong turnout among pro-life voters in these and other swing states could shift the balance towards the President on election day.

The results also indicate that the traditional Democratic strategy of using a pro-choice stance to garner the women's vote is no longer working. Pro-life voters are more likely to decide their vote on the abortion issue than pro-choice voters are.

Of course, many younger, single women traditionally support Democratic candidates, as many favor reproductive rights and other liberal ideas.

But in the past few weeks, American mothers have become a main focus of the election. These married women, who are sometimes called “soccer moms,” are traditionally concerned about issues which affect their children such as education, jobs, and health care.

Recently, this demographic has been targeted in order to try to add another concern to that list: national security. The chance of further terrorist attacks is naturally a major concern for these women, as they would certainly impact the lives of their children.

These newly-branded “security moms” have been polling higher for Bush, who most feel is stronger than Kerry in keeping the nation safe.

These developments do not bode well for Kerry.

I think Kerry's excellent dancing will also help him among "security moms", "soccer moms" and all other moms, branded or not.

I thought Kerry dancing for the female vote was funnier :)
It's time to throw everthing against the wall to see what sticks.

... But Kerry has already covered abortion and security issues by proclaiming himself unequivocally in favor of secure abortions! What more could one expect?
