Someone who would sign such a petition would likely not vote for a Republican so why would Republicans be registering voters with a method that would attract Democrats? The only reason that "Republican" is checked off for party is that it deceptively allows Democrats to point the finger at Republicans for perpetrating the scheme when it was in fact a Democrat scheme.
