That's very interesting.

Last night the discovery channel ran a show about Ronald Reagan. Reagan saw the Soviet state as being without religion and therefore the sole giver and taker of rights. The state was a giver and taker of rights without conscience.

Reagan discovered that the Russian population was very spiritual even if the state tried to suppress it. That was the turning point. Reagan maneuvered himself into positions that allowed himself to be seen by the Russian people. The Russian people began to hear something they had never heard before. They saw a world leader who didn't speak over them, he spoke to them as an equal who saw their rights on par with his own.

It brought about a change in the Russian public. They stopped asking and begging for their rights and began demanding their rights.
