The ever-colorful Teresa Heinz Kerry, whose ``shove it'' comment to a journalist made headlines earlier this year, says some of the words she chooses may be inappropriate because English is her second language.
``My intent and my expression is real, but the actual use of the words may be out of place,'' she said on the daytime talk show ``The View.''
Heinz Kerry is a native of Mozambique, where Portuguese is the official language.
But the potential first lady said she does not regret anything she's said this campaign season. ``I have not said very much at all except people repeat it, but what I have said I meant to say,'' she said.
She added that while growing up, her sons often used expressions she didn't understand, and said they still have to correct some of hers, telling her, ``Mom, that's not what it means.''
Disputing Republican attacks on Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] as a flip-flopper, Heinz Kerry said undecided voters should choose her husband on Nov. 2 ``because he's an optimist, because he likes ideas, he likes complexity.''
She added that anyone who can get men through a war alive can take action. ``He maybe deliberate a little longer than he likes, but deliberation is not a sin in a complex world, I don't think. And he does take action and he does believe in public service.''
In a final plug of her husband, she said, ``If I had to be in a foxhole, I'd like to be with John Kerry [related, bio].''
I thought she grew up in South Africa. Under Apartheid. Speaking ENGLISH.
And she won't be, one way or another.
bttt
And she's been in this country for 30+ years.
" Disputing Republican attacks on Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] as a flip-flopper, Heinz Kerry..."
ever notice that you can now buy heinz ketchup with the whole that the ketchup comes out of from either the top or the bottom. flip flopping not only runs in their politics, but also in their business products.
Today Rush was playing a tape of her saying Kerry would make a great leader because he is vulnerable, - and you can lead with vulnerability.
He's vulnerable alright, but he sure ain't leading.
Mr Ed and Mr Hair, Heinz ketchup looney, and tactless Mrs. round Edwards.
They will vote for these clowns?
She must have done well in training as an interpreter.
Democrats didn't like having to lie through their teeth for 8 years defending Bill Clinton.
They knew he was a liar but didn't want to let the Republicans "win one" and say "see I told you so".
It is much easier for them to sit back and say "President Bush is a moron who looks like a chimp! Halliburton! Halliburton! Enron!"
They know which side of the political aisle has been threatening those who put out films and books with the "wrong politics".
They know who will continue to fight the war on terror and who will run and hide in a corner just as he did in Vietnam when he thought he and his fellow soldiers were being fired upon.
They also know that it would be a tragedy of epic proportions to let John Edwards sit a heartbeat away fromt he Presidency with international terrorists plotting to kill the president with untold frequency.
Babblefish uses her translations.
"clarity, clarity, clarity"
shove it = Please pass the mashed potatoes
Mom...when we said the guy tells tall tales, we didn't mean he was a stand up guy !!
Me thinks she's been hitting the raisins a little too hard.
Liberals don't think that way.

Frumpy was in Rye NY and they were having a Environmental meeting, the women of Westchester county anyway I saw this on Cspan and wondered how in the hell can these women be worried about that when they are in the line of fire when it comes to terror. Leave it to Westchester County.
" Gee, I'm sorry for all those nasty things I've said during the campaign. You see, I'm a billionaire who just can't afford to take language lessons. So if you don't understand my jingoisms and slurs, then I can only say to you, Shove it as*hole!"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Kerry is running on 'better diplomacy', isn't it dangerous to have his wife saying things that are mis-interpreted?
