I thought we dismissed the idea of feudalism and trial by battle sometime in the 12th Century. I prefer a more civilized system of rights and laws.

So your argument is that might makes right? When you're dealing with rebellion then quite often is does. Had we lost the revolution I'm sure that our view of the times would be much different.
