Yikes. I've been in that train station, waiting for the high-speed AVE down to Seville.

Wish the Spanish hadn't gone wobbly on us, but I guess the population was always against the Iraq war, so it shouldn't surprise me.

I think Spain essentially surrendered by voting out José María Aznar, thereby giving Al Qaeda the victory they were seeking. It was complete and total capitulation.

We had friends 45 minutes out when the bomb went off, heading into the station.

Went through there in April. Tight and better run then our airports I've been in, but of course that was after the fact. This was a big location to bomb with local, regional and international trains. Mall and such.
