Hidden by her deceptive attacks on Jim DeMint's plan to eliminate the federal income tax, is the real truth behind Inez Tenenbaum's proposal to raise state sales taxes by 40%.
Yes, that's right - 40%.
Mrs. Tenenbaum has proposed a 40% state tax hike on groceries, diapers, baby formula, shoes, dresses, suits, prescription drugs and so much more.
In yesterday's debate on Meet The Press Congressman DeMint said, "There's only one person in this race, Tim, that's proposed a billion-dollar sales tax increase in South Carolina. It's not me," he said, referring to Tenenbaum's 2003 support for a two-cent, or 40 percent, hike in the state's sales tax to temporarily meet projected education budget cuts. (Dan Hoover, The Greenville News, October 18, 2004)
I think DeMint is gonna wipe the floor with Tenenbaum on 11/2.
Hope you are right my friend...here in NC we have a tuff race with Burr and the low life scum RAT. hope we pik up several seats.
Burr may pull it off. I think Coors will win in CO and Coburn in OK. I pray that Thune beats Dasshole but I have a feeling that the dead Indian vote will put the Dasshole over the top.
Good Lord! They tax food and clothing? I thought Massachusetts was bad.
How did he do in the debate last night...I was watching the baseball game...I can't find a thread..
I watched "Meet the Press" too. Jim's SALES TAX explanation was WAY TOO COMPLICATED, too confusing.
He HAS TO SAY, "National sales tax? ONLY if the income tax
is abolished FIRST, and ONLY IF PRICES DROP BY 30% OR MORE
AS A RESULT, WHICH THEY SHOULD -- The dirty little secret of the old-time politicians is that BUSINESSES DON'T PAY TAXES -- YOU DO -- BECAUSE BUSINESSES HAVE RAISE THEIR PRICES TO COVER THEM, duh.
So, AGAIN -- ONLY IF PRICES DROP BY 30% -- and they should drop by way more than that.
More print and radio ads are needed for this, and TELL the DeMint campaign (see: http://jimdemint.com/demint_contents/contact/ ).
Inez apparently wants everyone to think BOTH the DeMint campaign AND the public are too stupid to understand the dirty little secret, and what it means for the REALITY of the REPLACEMENT sales tax.
Sheesh!
I used to live in Columbia myself. She does not fit in with SC at all. Even her name blares New York. As the Superintendent she most likely is embarassed by most of SC with the exception of Charleston.
I teach in South Carolina and I can tell you my colleagues and I would NEVER vote for her because of how she's run our D.O.E. She's not even from SC originally, she's actually from Georgia.
