What's Karl Rove Up To?
The Washington Post ^ | 10/18/2004 | Dan Froomkin

Posted on 10/18/2004 9:08:36 PM PDT by Utah Girl

It's not just President Bush's legacy at stake on Nov. 2 -- it's also Karl Rove's.

So campaign cognoscenti are keeping a close eye on the master strategist these next two weeks, furiously mulling two questions.

Will Rove's decision to invigorate the base -- at the risk of alienating everyone else -- ultimately make him a hero or a goat?

And does he still have something up his sleeve?

Traditionally, the furious mulling about Rove is complicated by his insistence on hovering behind the scenes. But Rove is making himself hard to miss these days, giving interviews right and left -- most of them to reporters, but in one case, for two hours on Friday, to a federal grand jury investigating the Valerie Plame case.

The Post is so transparent it's not even funny. The real problem the LEFT has with Rove is that he's damn good at what he does and they wish Lockhart had a tenth of his savvy.

The Rats would just like Rove on their side. They are afraid of him. That is why they villify him so much.

It's getting a bit late for October Surprises,
what with all the early voting this year.

If Karl Rove dropped dead tomorrow his legacy is secure. The guy is a genius, and whatever he's doing, wherever he is, he's helping.

Rove is worth it if only for the anxiety he causes for the Rats. The DU buttheads are paranoid about him.

I hate to tell you, but if Rove was so great, Bush wouldn't have disappeared the weekend before the last election and pissed away a FOUR point lead with four days to go.

Karl Rove is effective and efficient. And smart. The Dems can't stand that.

And he would not be facing any serious challenge from an idiot like Kerry.

Oh, you're gonna get it now! Criticism of Rove and Bush at the same time.

BTW, I agree with you. It is hard to believe that the Bush campaign hasn't put away Kerry. They should be up 6-8 points, instead the election is far too close.

October surprises traditionally come the last week of the month. Yeah, early voting is going on, but even before this year, absentee ballots are cast before the October Surprise. Have faith. I think we have yet to see the final blow to the Kerry campaign.

Don't you know Karl Rove is up to controlling the weather? Yeah! He's causing hurricanes to hit Florida, volcanic eruptions in Washington and earthquakes in California! He's resting now, so that he can make sure it snows only in the Democrat areas of Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on election day, along with massive flooding in the Miami area. As always, women and minorities will be most affected.

...or so the New York Times and Washington Post would have me believe...

"Karl Rove ain't no Lee Atwater."

Yep! When Atwater passed away, it took the fire out of GHWB to campaign in 1992. There was never a concern on the direction of a campaign run under Atwater. With Rove, I've gone through a lifetime of anti-acids thie year.

We would still be up by 6 points, but Bush's poor first debate performance gave Kerry and the MSM opportunity to keep it close.

Let's be honest,

It is not Kerry who is the idiot. It is the millions of Americans who let themselves be so duped by the democrat party as to not even question, even a tad, the fitness of the party's candidate.

If it were only Kerry that was the idiot GW and Rove would have no problems winning. The problem comes from the millions of true idiots.

I would be inclined to agree-however:

There are a LOT of people that hate Bush and would vote for a lampshade if it ran against him. This accounts for at least 42%. Another 5% is having economic difficulty and is blaming the President. A near-perfect campaign in this scenario, under a wartime President, would be Bush leading about 6 points. I think he'll win by 4.

Yes, that was a big mistake. But, I think they learned their hard lesson.

And he would not be facing any serious challenge from an idiot like Kerry.

Political brilliance is so obvious it's no wonder that three would-be-advisors would here, at the ready, to tell George W. Bush what he needs to do to win.

Oh, I just now noticed. All they're doing is trashing the guy who IS telling him how to win.

I guess they're not so friggin' smart, after all.
