Two weeks before Election Day, voters hold a sharply critical view of President Bush's record in office, but they have strong reservations about Senator John Kerry, leaving the race in a tie, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.
Mr. Bush's job approval rating is at 44 percent, a dangerously low number for an incumbent president, and one of the lowest of his tenure

i love it when they squirm..... right before they die
you arent a pissant...the dummies that put this poll out are LOL
Don't forget 'Chythonia'!
NY Times is admitting something even close to a draw? I hear they are deeply saddened, just as they were when Saddam was captured!
There are any number of reasons for the Pravda Press to lie
about poll results. Here are a few:
1. Money: Retain viewer/reader interest and keep
ratings/subscriptions up (and ad revenue)
2. Money: Keep the campaigns buying ads.
3. Agenda: Keep the DNC base from staying home 02 Nov
4. Agenda: Because even if Kerry can't possibly win,
they want to prevent GOP supermajorities in congress
5. Agenda: Cause the GOP to question its own internal
poll results, and perhaps spend money where they don't
really need to
6. Agenda: Have fake numbers to cover DNC vote fraud
7. Denial: Well, they do have a tendency to think that
reality conforms itself to their wishes.
I simply do not believe any poll that has the President's approval rating at 44%. That is just not credible.
Bush approval @ 44%? That's a bunch of liberal left loony bull I might add. It is way out of the ballpark vis-a-vis all the other polls.
Don't forget Beelzebub...
who is Cythonia, pray tell
ADAM "SPIDER" NAGOURNEY
spinning that web he tries to do for Kerry so well, the fact the times are doing 2 stories on polls, says something.
I'm sorry but if Bush's approval rating was 44% we would be looking at the second coming of Jimmy Carter. Jayson Blair must have done this poll.
"Mr. Bush's job approval rating is at 44 percent"
Hey NY Times it's President Bush, not Mr.
And his job approval is 54% up from 53% in late Sept.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42984-2004Oct18.html
"Bush's job approval -- another significant barometer of an incumbent's political health -- stands at 54 percent, compared to 53 percent in late September.
In the modern era, all incumbent presidents with approval ratings above 50 percent have won their reelection bids.
Similarly, Bush's personal standing with voters remains exactly where it was before the debates: 53 percent of all likely voters say they have a favorable impression of the president."

I forgot the name of the tree that that hairy, enviro-hippie chick lived in for 6 months (before they cut it down), otherwise I would have included it too.
From the See-BS website
Two weeks before the election, a CBS News/New York Times poll shows President Bush with a 2-point lead over John Kerry. But in troubling news for the White House, voters are sour on Mr. Bush's job performance and the direction of the country. More
So even they admit the Bush lead and what they DON'T tell you is Bush JA number is up 1 point from their LAST poll.
Imagine that. Kinda like the NY Times telling us that 6 US servicemen were killed in fighting in Najaf. Just forgot to mention the 190 jihadis stacked up like cordwood.

P.S: Here's CBS' write-up of its joint poll with the NYT. As alert reader K.B. notes:
Nagourney should have no trouble writing this one up with that approval number and the right track/wrong track numbers.
It practically writes itself! ... Maybe A.N. will go for a medal and not even mention the (mildly) pro-Bush horse-race numbers until after the jump. ... 4:12 P.M.
thanks
