I agree. I love the Salvation Army.
We lost our house in a flood. The Salvation Army was wonderful.
The Red Cross was horrible.
The fat at the top of The Red Cross live very nicely.
no contract?? no case.
Fabian said that Davis had been scheduled to speak about her new book "The Long Goodbye," a remembrance of her father who died last July after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Make that triple tacky. Charging the Salvation Army a speaking fee while she pitches her book & then suing them.
I agree!
They oppose ONLY the exploitation of alive embryonic aged human beings for stem cells. [I don't recall the area, but there is a Salvation Army effort to assist with cord blood donations which are rich stem cell sources.]
That made my head spin, too. Are there actually celebrities who charge to speak to charities? When it comes to tacky, it's hard to beat the Hollywood gang,
oh please...this dum dum advocated for the nuclear freeze.
My #2 charity, just behind Jerry Lewis.
That's what I thought. People stand out in the cold to ring the bell and she expects to get paid for advertising her book?!
Patti Davis should be ashamed of charging the Salvation Army anything to speak. Now she should just go home and shut up. If her views clash with the policies of the SA, she has no business appearing for them.
In Wisconsin it was just announced today that Target was withdrawing permission for the SA to have their bell ringers in fromt of Target stores at Christmas. As a consequece, the SA will have to cut many programs in this area because the Target locations account for a huge portion of their collection.
Patti Davis ought to be giving the SA $15,000 and offering to help sort donaations, rather than charging them for her "services".
It's amazing these liberals are able to claim that stem cells from destroyed babies are the perfect cure-all for every disease there is. Diabetes? --- easy --- be injected with stem cells from aborted babies --- instant cure. Parkinsons? --- same thing --- instant cure! Alzheimers --- same instant cure. There is no disease destroyed babies' cells can't cure --- it's like the miracle cure --- but nothing but a big lie.
Somehow the libs always forget the word *embryonic* when they shout about stem cells being the cure-all.... That's what they want- embryonic stem cell research, not just ANY stem cells.... Has anyone else noticed that?
There's already been evidence of problems with embryonic stem cells --- I know they had to stop a study with Parkinsons and stem cells when there were some terrible results. The pro-abortion crowd lies like it usually does, it now claims that stem cells will cure just about every kind of disease --- there is no proof they can. More likely these cells will cause strange cancers --- undifferentiated cells --- or if they do differentiate, they will cause graft versus host disease.
When I was a teenager, I was a camp counselor every year at the Muscular Dystrophy camp.
I loved every minute of it. We would also work the telethons every year.
Those kids are darlings.
The Red Cross left the area the second the press was gone. They charged us and the rescuers for food and drinks.
The Salvation Army wouldn't let us give them any money at all. They said to hold onto our money since we didn't know what expenses would come up as we were recovering.
They brought us food, cleaning supplies and they helped people clean up. As long as we needed help, the Salvation Army was still there.
They are my absolute favorite charity.
so far no one has posted a comment about why in the
blue-eyed world the salvation army is paying ANYONE 15,000
to speak about anything......
thats a lot of people freezin their butts off around the
holidays ringing the bell and collecting nickels and dimes
in those black kettles......this is outrageous..
My father died of Parkinson's ten years ago and he never would have supported this "advancement". I'd heard about the terrible results, but they sure aren't being talked about much....
