The American idea is to learn, educate yourself, and vote. Not sit on your can and do nothing.
It's a call to laziness. And ignorance.
That's fine. If you are not willing to do those things, then don't vote. Essentially that is what Matt is saying. Get educated, and if you are too lazy to do that, then don't vote. That's why I hate Motor Voter. If you are too lazy to go and register, you shouldn't be voting in the first place.

Suggesting someone go vote, if he or she has not done as you suggest, is a call to irresponsibility.
He's not telling people to be ignorant and lazy. He's saying that if you ARE ignorant and too lazy to learn about the issues----stay home.
