NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil prices retreated sharply after setting record highs above $55 a barrel on Monday as dealers took profits on signs that energy costs are hurting economic growth. U.S. light crude slid a $1.26 to settle at $53.67 a barrel, after hitting a new $55.33 peak, on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The sky is falling, the sky is falling!
I seem to remember that Kerry promised he'd reduce oil prices. Maybe this is what he had in mind. Cause a recession, and oil goes down.
Next, Kerry/Edwards will start blasting the oil companies for excessive profits and tarring Bush/Cheney with it. They'll say we need a windfall profits bill. LOL!
YAH!!!
Lower oil prices mean lower heating bills this winter!!! YAH!!!!
I am an optimist!!! : )
Notice how the RATS have never suggested LOWERING TAXES on oil to bring the price down?
Economy to Oil Prices: "Stop it, you are huRrrrting me!! I am telling mom! "
Maybe that was before Bush f#%*ed it up so badly; but I think the real problem is that Bush's evil oil cronies are out-sourcing and buying up all that cheap foreign oil.

WE'RE GOING ALL THE WAY TO WASHINGTON!! YEEEHHHHAAAAGGHHH!!

I want the dude that ended up scarred and paralyzed in the wheelchair (one of the first episodes, that had lots of flashbacks)
Between those two, Kirk in war or peace. I wouldn't elect a socialist like Picard to anything. But, Sisko before either.
Please don't let it get around that oil prices are dictated by market pressures. I'm still in the process of selling $70/barrel oil futures to my pals at the DNC.
OK, help me understand something. Do we prefer buying our oil from the Arabs or from Texans and Okies? When the cost per barrel dropped significantly back in the 80's (right), we saw many oil companies bring their drilling rigs back to the company storage yards because the price was too low to make any money. Now that the price is high, oil companies are drilling. That's good! Right! I say pay $50 a barrel and keep the roughnecks and roustabouts and geologists, etal working. Oh yeh, and get those cars running off clean burning corn fuel. Minnesota has 100 stations already selling the 85% ethanol and the 10% ethanol is sold at all stations. That's a huge amount of fuel being produced by the ethanol refineries. It is creating jobs and keeping the jobs at home. Go ethanol! Go home drilled oil!
Light sweet crude. Mmmmmmm (c)Homer
That was the star trek '64 pilot and it had Gene Rodenbury's wife as the science officer.
I just can't remember the captain's name. Its either him or we exhume Patton and clone him.
