Sept. 11 widows slam Bush's anti-terror record
WASHINGTON (AFP) - A group of widows of September 11 victims slammed President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s record against terrorism, accusing the US leader of making the United States less safe and of bringing terrorism to Iraq (news - web sites).
"He has made us less secure," said Monica Gabrielle, a member of the widows' group, which is supporting Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry (news - web sites) in the November 2 election.
"There are many things that have not been done here at home which could have been," she said in a telephone conference with reporters. "This president had three years with the Republican Congress to get so much more done to make us safer."
Gabrielle decried what she called Bush's "stubborn arrogance."
"How can we trust you to lead us in the future when you have failed so poorly in the past?" asked another widow, Mindy Kleinberg.
"Now we brought the terrorism to Iraq," said a third widow, Lorie Van Auken. "The terrorists that we create today may come back to attack our children tomorrow."
The group endorsed Kerry last month and decried Bush's response to the September 11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.
Very difficult to find sympathy for a person who is so 'broken up by her loss' that she'll use it to campaign for a president...
These women make me sick, but not as sick as the Democrat party who uses them.
I think it was 3 widows that endorsed Kerry last month. What a joke. It's time these women shut up and get on with their lives! I am getting sick and tired of them!
Do we really need to hear from these old hags again?
Heard this dope on with Steve Malzberg one Sunday morning. Said Kerry would be more sensitive when fighting terror.
I guess I'm trying to figure out why this complete non-adjustment in their position is news today.
Funny....I dont think we have had a terrorist attack here since 9/11. I guess they must be wrong....
Excuse me Ms. Gabrielle, Do we want to fight the terrorists on our soil? maybe you can let GWB what other country would be to your liking.
(my first post)
Not-so-Breitweiser was on the Kerry campaign conference call that got FReeped today so she was unable to provide any of her special insights ;) ROFLMAO

We brought terrorism to Iraq??? Has she been asleep for the past 10-15 years? Terrorism reigned supreme way before the US was on the scene, sweetie.
I love how they all claim that Bush hasn't done enough to make us safer, yet they don't say what will make us "safer."
I was listening to Charles Stanley this weekend, and he said it best (and I am paraphrasing): The only person who can protect the country is God.
>>>"He has made us less secure"
>>>"There are many things that have not been done here at home which could have been"
Many empty statments. How would *she* know we are less secure? I guess she's looking for the military on every streetcorner?
Quite true...
"The Democratic Widows for Terror are back! And this time they're mad!!!"
I think this is the blurb for their new book and/or movie.
Couldn't the RNC find 100 widows who don't like terrorists and support Bush?
Interesting article. Does the group have a name? It's never mentioned.
"Now we brought the terrorism to Iraq," said a third widow, Lorie Van Auken. "The terrorists that we create today may come back to attack our children tomorrow."
Don't worry. They'll be to dead to do much harm...
If it's skyscrapersafety.org, no wonder they didn't mention the name. Sheesh. 90-something percent of all the folks below the floors that were hit got out. I'd say those buildings did pretty well.
