I find this thread amusing in that no one here wants to have a national ID card system installed yet when the ACLU complains about peoples civil rights being violated you are all up in arms about the Socialists.

Spare me the sanctimonious BS. Admit it, the issue here is not that you do not want the system. The issue here is you do not want the system in the Democrats hands so that they can then implement their Marxist/Gestapo utopian society.

Hey, I totally agree here. However without a form of control we open ourselves up to further attacks. I for one, have no trouble carrying a national ID card. I just don't want it coded with information that violates my civil rights. I do not think it is important which religion I practice, what my medical records may say or for that matter what I do for a living.

However, the card does need to be counterfeit proof. That's all I need.

I guarantee that it will have all that information and more. It will have your tax records, your bank statements, employment history, credit history, education, your family info., EVERYTHING. You will have to have it every time you buy a pack of gum, or start your car, or rent a movie, or enter a building.

The Democrats won't be the only ones who vote to include all that information either. Power is impossible for politicians to resist so many Republicans will line up to vote for it just as eagerly as the Democrats.

Yeah. If only we required foreigners to have IDs--like visas or passports--we could have prevented 9/11.

I for one, have no trouble carrying a national ID card.

I'm not at all surprised. Tell me, comrade, what would you have done with those who don't comply or who forget their card at home? Lock them up? Shoot them on sight?

I just don't want it coded with information that violates my civil rights.

Yeah, right. It'll be coded with whatever Uncle Sam deems necessary for preserving national security. Why should the government give a rat's patoot about what you think you're entitled to?

I do not think it is important which religion I practice, what my medical records may say or for that matter what I do for a living.

Really? As far as the feds are concerned you could be a Muslim terrorist carrying a deadly, communicable disease who's working for a company that is funneling money to al Qaeda. Anything about you could be considered fair game when we're talking about "national security."
