Free Prayer

Read: Ephesians 6:10-20

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance. —Ephesians 6:18

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 53-55; 2 Thessalonians 1

A pastor was asked to call on a woman in a psychiatric hospital and pray for her. After his visit, he thought how good it would be for somebody to go there regularly and pray for the residents. The "somebody" turned out to be him. On a table in one of the wards, he put up a sign saying "Free Prayer." Later he recalled, "Suddenly I had 15 people standing in line to get prayed for."

People often ask for our prayers, but do we faithfully pray for them? Many times we see others in great need but find it easier to discuss their plight with friends rather than to intercede for them. But people need and want our prayers.

Paul concluded his call to put on "the whole armor of God" (Ephesians 6:13-17) by writing, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" (v.18).

Oswald Chambers often referred to prayer as "the ministry of the interior" and said, "There is no snare, or any danger of infatuation or pride in intercession; it is a hidden ministry that brings forth fruit whereby the Father is glorified."

Faithful prayer—whether in public or private—is one of the greatest gifts we can give others. —David McCasland

To give to others what they need,
We show no greater care
Than when we give them to the Lord,
Upholding them in prayer. —D. De Haan

Our intercession may be the key to God's intervention.

Oops, I'm not quite as skinny today as I was in the army! I think I'd better go back and take basic training a few times :-)

Good morning and thanks for the boost!
What a great reminder to be faithful in prayer.
I was writing out notes to send to some of our soldiers last evening and told them I was praying for them.
It's good to be mindful of what that actually means, so that the words aren't hollow.

Great pledge graphic this morning! Thanks for continuing to honor our military.

I'm excited and had to share. I figured out last night that I could vote early at my Town Hall with an absentee ballot. I wasn't going to vote absentee because I didn't want to rely on the postal system to deliver it.

Well, this morning I had to drive right by the Town Hall, so I stoped in and took 5 minutes to vote. I am excited because this was my first presidential election as a registered voter, and it only took 5 minutes!

I would encourage anyone that doesn't want to have to stand in line on Nov. 2nd to find out if this is an option in your district.

Thanks for letting me share.

We Honor our Military everyday, and Pray for their safety and success against the islamofascist terrorists.

Great news on the voting front..

I will be working the vote till the end of election night.
I have signs to put out for candidates for local, state and federal offices.
I just restocked my supply of Bush/Cheney signs : )
