It was Carter Vs. Ford, so where were you during the course of that election and when Carter claimed his victory(unfortunately). It was a pretty close race.
I was 13 and sneaking out to the field where my fort was to smoke cigs and ogle my penthouse mags.
If you remember the 70's...you weren't there.
I was just being born... For some reason I can remember the smell of pot...
Probably keeping my parents busy with bodily emissions.
1976..let's see, I saw Star Wars and Close Encounters...believe it or not, I saw Close Encounters with my entire 6th grade class as a field trip...And I remember my republican Dad cringing at the thought of Jimmy Carter as president.
(pardon me whilst I wax pendant)
That would be a pretty good trick - Star Wars and Close Encounter of the Third Kind were released in 1977.
:-)
Riding my bike ... glad to be done with training wheels.
Yeah, well...I'm gettin' old. Yer right .It was NAS Millington, but Marines 'owned' it...
Hmm...OK...you got me...I was in the sixth grade though, it must have been early 77 for Close Encounters. </Jedi Mind Trick Off>
The only reason I remember is Star Wars had just opened and was hot when I graduated in spring of 1977. I actually thought Close Encounters was 1976 but I looked it up and found it was 1977.
Now that I've lived here for 14 years I don't really desire to leave the area when I retire.
When I retired the clerk asked me where I was going to live. I hadnt really thought about it until then. I thought for a minute and decided I had lived in a lot of worse places and not any better places, so I stayed.
playing with my weeble wobbles
Potty training and picking on my little brother.
I still have four cans of Billy Beer. Due to my age and their age, they will be killed in honor of GWB"s election.
I was in NYC at the time working for Intl Paper. Voted for Reagan in the primary and Ford in the general election.
Play that Funky Music White Boy
1976: I was in the 3rd grade, with freckes, pigtails and roller skates (skinned knees), with my pink soft sided Barbie lunchbox and thermos, riding my red Schwinn (American made, no doubt) 1 speed /banana seat bike ('My fair lady'), watching Brady Bunch , playing dolls and celebrating that huge event, the Bicentennial.
I was 10 years old so didn't care too much
Married, just graduated from college and newly commissioned AF lieutenant waiting to return to active duty as an officer. After serving under Nixon and Ford it was not a happy prospect serving under peanut brain.
