Well, this pretty much rules out any chance the Swiftboat
Vets will stand down, not that it was ever terribly likely.
Kerry is going to have to contend permanently with the
spreading truth about his personal mythology of Vietnam,
and his subsequent betrayals.
Just something I've observed ... has this guy ever
apologized for anything? He seems to have a character
defect (one of many) that absolutely blocks it.
I don't know the answer. What I do know is that earlier in the campaign, he had at least backed off a little from the 1971 testimony, saying he doesn't like hearing it because he concedes that his language was "over the top."
His surrogates would always trot out that admission whenever asked if Kerry was planning to apologize for what he did in 1971.
This sounds like a retraction of whatever apology was implied in the "over the top" admission. If this is some kind of campaign strategy, I can't imagine what they are thinking.
