PRESIDENT Bush has surged to a six-point lead in his battle to stay at the White House amid a backlash against election rival John Kerry among women voters.
Senator Kerrys popularity plunged after he singled out vice-president Dick Cheneys daughter as a lesbian in the final head-to-head TV debate.
The comment while answering a question on beliefs about homosexuality enraged her family.
Mum Lynne Cheney demanded an apology after accusing Kerry of a tawdry political trick.
Bush now leads his Democrat challenger by 50 points to 44 his strongest lead for three weeks, according to a poll by US magazine Newsweek.
Tough-talking Bush is more popular with women and dominates among Americans aged 30 to 49. Kerry is ahead among pensioners.
He suffered a further blow yesterday as Bill Clinton recovering from heart surgery confirmed he would make few appearances in the run-up to the November 2 poll. Kerry had banked on the ex-president encouraging Democrats to go to the polls.
One of my liberal relatives says he supported Kerry out of his unhappiness with Bush. He has been hoping that Kerry would come up with a reason to solidify his support but apparently he isn't going to.
If they really wanted him to lose, they'd realize that everything they touch turns to $#!+, and they'd be pounding the pavement for him 24/7.
If kedwards has a message it's being drowned out.
I'm beginning to think Kerry is the Democrats' Dole. The only difference is that the media is making it seem closer than it is in the hopes of inspiring more Dems to vote.
I hope your relative either sees the light or leaves President blank.
Heard too today that there is a video of the Whoopie fiasco and pics of kedwards praising whoopie and friends.
Ooops, make that ANTI women
So is your liberal relative still undecided?
ROTFLMAO! You owe me a new keyboard.
Bush does bad in the polls its because Kerry is good Bush does Good in the polls its because Kerry does something bad.
It will amaze me till I die that a Conservative President has no merit of his own with the media.
Sen. Kerry got a brief blip from the debate, and then the poll numbers returned to about where they'd been before. I think the debate impressed folks once again with how poised and well-spoken the Senator is. In the following days, the spell wore off, and the voters remembered what a despicable slime he is. That's why the President's numbers are drifting back up.

I haven't the ability to do this, but could you put "the lame will leap" where you have put "Cheney's daughter is a Lesbian" in the post # 25 Bumper Sticker/Placard?
Interesting that none of the punditry have commented on the specific word choice, much less what Kerry was really trying to do here.
I've been hearing a lot about it on talk radio but was wondering specifically about the Sunday shows. They seem to attract a lot of less politically-aware people who don't necessarily listen to talk radio.
Incredible, isn't it ?
The decision to go after Dick Cheney's daughter was a political blunder on the level of assuming that the Willie Horton ads would blow over. No, it was deeper than a blunder. It was a failure in character. It was an inability to understand either family or Christian love. Yet one more reason why the Democratic conventional wisdom from now on will be to never, ever nominate a Massachusetts liberal.
BTTT
Kerry won the debates, before he lost them.
Did anyone else see Lawrence O'Donnell go nuts
defending Kerrey's remark
on the McLaughlin group?
I think this is going to rank right up there
with Gerald Ford's liberation of the Poles
and Dukakis' lack of response to Bernard Shaw
in the annals of great debate gaffes.
