An excerpt of the above mentioned article by Reuters regarding the cancellation of the flu vaccine: ...FDA inspectors have determined that Chiron's entire manufacturing process for the vaccine was unsafe and they have rejected all of the 48-odd million doses at the facility...Chiron found and reported contamination with a bacteria called Serratia, but had hoped to correct the problem in time to save most of the vaccine production. The FreeDictionary.com gives a definition of Serratia marcescens as: the type species of the genus Serratia; a species found in water and soil and milk and foods and insects; can cause infections of the endocardium and blood and wounds and urinary tract and respiratory tract; has been tested as a bioweapon. What do we make of this???

Well it is fairly simple. The Flu Vaccine was contaminated.

Jacques Al-Qerry blamed Bush for the "Flu Vaccine Crisis", today in a speech. The possibilty of tampering never entered his mind.

I don't think that you should consider this bioterrorism. Although S. marcescans can be an obligate pathogen, it is doubtful that it would be used to contaminate the flu vaccine.

If true, it certainly lends support to Bush's argument against allowing the free flow of drugs from Canada. It also takes the wind out of Kerry's sails to the extent he's grasping at straws to somehow blame the President for the shortage. Sounds like Bush's explanation in the third debate was balls-on accurate.

I realize they were contaminated - I was refering to the last line that read..tested as a bioweapon.

Actually Ws argument in the debates was totally accurate. The blood sucking tort lawyers have basically sued vaccine maufacturers out of the country. You can't afford to make it here in the US because you can't make a high enough profit % to pay for your liability insurance

What do I make of this? Well we should never have forced vaccine manufacturers to sell vaccines at a price where they could never make a profit or break even. People need to realize that legislation, over-regulation, frivolous lawsuits, and confiscatory tax-codes forces a change in behavior. Our manufacturers where in a position that they stopped making the vaccines and we were force to go overseas for them. Let's predict a pattern...if we buy too many pharmaceuticals overseas, US drug companies may stop manufacturing them. Let's not be too quick for the "Canadian" option.
