Honestly, I don't think it was. The film does a great job of mocking conservative self-righteousness, patriotism in general, Toby Keith, CIA incompetence, and the military's gung-ho spirit. It's just that the impact is lost on liberals because the mainstream media does the same thing all the time, while treating the F.A.G. types as sacred cows. Truly even-handed mockery favors our side.
I loved the movie. The PDA analogy was perfect, and no one who sees the film will have any doubts which categories Bush and Kerry fall into. Kim Jong Il ought to be preparing a defamation lawsuit! Though I loved what he did to Hans Blix.
And even for a puppet, Lisa is adorable. ;)
The weirdest moment in the film for me was when I found myself really, really wanting the two chick puppets to kiss each other.
Really.
Ultimately, it goes mostly after the left. While it does satire excessive bombings etc. by taking down the Eiffel Tower, Team America ultimately saves thet day while everybody else is silenced. The point: Though imperfect, America has to get involved.
I would agree you on this... I call it RaRa-ism
