Fustrated Democrats
The Washington Times ^ | October 15 2004 | Arnold Beichman

Posted on 10/16/2004 9:07:54 AM PDT by Oakleaf

There seems to be general agreement that the Democratic Party leadership and rank-and-file are particularly embittered. They are embittered with their dismal electoral fate over several decades and full of bile and spleen about the continued successes of Republican Party candidates. And they have good reason to be bitter. Most people do not realize the depth of the Republican hold on electoral and appointive posts and for how long the Republican Party has been in power in Washington and in the 50 states. That may explain the embitterment.

Why would people support a party that is well known for its anti-American positions? People are naturally voting for their own interests. The Dems do not represent them any longer. Look who are their primary spokespeople, the Hollyweird Left. Who wants to be associated with that kind?

Well, if the repulicans control the predidency, senate, house, supreme court, etc., WHY can't they cut government spending and downsize the government?

Because they don't want too.

It's bigger than that, too: the GOP not only holds GOVERNORSHIPS, but holds the two "biggies," NY and CA; the mayorship (sorta) of NYC; and until recently had a good lock on the governorship of IL. The growth states of FL and TX are solidlly GOP, and don't appear headed any other way.

Honestly, the anger that is going to explode from these people may well destroy their party, and we'll have a "Green-anti-war" wing and a "traditional wing" that will likely meld into the GOP (Zell Miller, Ed Koch). The bad news is that the GOP will likely shift leftward, except for the pressing issue of immigration, which I think will be the polestar for the 2008 campaign.

Great article.

Bush is right when he says that people yearn for freedom, and that bringing freedom to oppressed people is the cure for tyranny/socialism/communism/etc.

Now, if we can just keep the Democrats out of power, we can enjoy freedom here in the USA...

They'll probably never resume their former stature until (or unless) they rid themselves of the whack-job fringe that has comprised their base for the past 30 years.

the GOP not only holds GOVERNORSHIPS, but holds the two "biggies," NY and CA;

You forgot TX and FL. TX is larger than NY, and FL will have more population than NY by 2020. The importance of those governorships nationally is that every ten years they can either sign or veto redistricting. Having Republican governors in the most populous states affects redrictrict for a larger proportion of the House.

THE ONLY THING THE LIBERAL DEMS HAVE TO BE FRUSTRATED ABOUT --- is the fact that their "LEADERS" (choke) cannot produce anything but CROOKS, THUGS, SOCIALISTS and PERVERTS as candidates...and they wonder why the electorate does not want them.....

Are I.Q.s suffering that bad in America now????

Look it is always a battle for the center.....the Dims are at the call of the far left and the Repubs are clinging to what I see as a more moderate stance...look at my state of California. Our "Real" candidate McClintock (GREAT GUY!) would never win....so we decided a Arnold compromise is light years better than that weak kneed Gray Davis and his Socialist Legislature....

With the inclusion scenario of the Repubs it could break the backs of the Dims and isolate them as even more far left...or we take the purest approach and become a smaller yet maybe truer party...Not sure which direction we get more of what we want....

Remember life is about compromise...as much as we would like WE CAN'T HAVE IT ALL!
