George W. Bush Scheduled to speak in New Port Richey at noon Tuesday, October 19th at Sims Park.
I happened to be at the Republican Headquarters looking for yard signs when I discovered that the President is scheduled for an appearance here.
Tickets are needed to enter.
My questions are: this is my first such event. How soon should I get there to be able to get close to the president?
Are cameras allowed?
Anyone with information about these events please inform me.
Thanks-
Quaker
Get there early and be prepared to wait in line. This should get you a good spot, but won't necessarily guarantee you get "close" to the President.
My son was at a Cheney event last week (tickets were needed), got there a couple hours before the doors opened. Some people that came later and got there when the doors opened didn't make it into the hall and were turned away.
The President will also be in St. Pete at Al Lang Field early AM on Tuesday...tickets needed for that event.
Lucky you.
I used to visit my grandparents in New Port Richey while growing up. Last visit was with my young boys around 1982. Glad to hear you are Bush Country now.
Since I live in the land of the hildebeast I know nothing about campaign stops, neither side comes. I can't even freep kerry.
For a 2000 election event we got tickets and showed up 2 hours early. We STILL didn't get in, which we were all quite upset over. We were all excited to see the president, and got there earlier than we were told. But they gave out thousands of extra tickets, which we were not too happy with when we found out about it.
Jeb came out to those of us who didn't get in, and gave autographs and shook hands. That did help us feel a little better.
I have tickets too. It is opening up at 8 AM and I intend to be there at 8 AM. I had the privilege of seeing then candidate Bush and soon to be First Lady Laura in 2000 at PHCC in New Port Richey. It seems that we stood in line for several hours to get in. It was more than worth it.
Get there as early as you can. And travel light. At the Red Rocks rally here in Colorado, they were very strict on what they allowed in. No video cameras. No still/35mm cameras with detachable or long lens or even medium lens. No backpacks. No large purses/totes. No books or magazines. No food. No unsealed water bottles. No blankets or seat cushions. Travel light. And have fun.
That was the one I got locked out of! And we were there 2 hours early. They stopped admitting people about 100 people ahead of us on line - said the place was full.
You can bring a camera, small video camera, cell phone. No signs, or food. Some allow water, most don't. Definitely no other bottle liquids, such as pop.
If it is a large area, you can get there just an hour or so before he is scheduled to speak and make your way up as close as possible. Now, for the best tip of all I can provide you.
Go back to that campaign office, or call, and volunteer to work it. You can do a lot of different things that are easy and rewarding. When you are done with your "job", the person in charge of the campaign event can usually get you right up next to the President. It is a perk for volunteers.
Good luck and enjoy!
I just got my tickets yesterday for New Port Richey on Tues. They are to provide the signs per the office here in Citrus Co. I was told to be there at 8 a.m. for his rally at noon. I guess we are sitting on the lawn & was told no blankets or chairs. Hope they have a seat for my husband who is a diabetic & can't get up if he has to sit on the ground. I'm trying to think of someway to get FR on a sign or maybe a white baseball cap with my Bush Buttons. Any ideas? I'm really excited as this is my first rally.
I have a VIP ticket and I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I was told this will get me a seat in the bleachers. I do vounteer work for the Hernando County Headquarters.
I plan to get there before 8 am. No vidio cameras allowed.
He is supposed to be there around 12pm.
Warning: St. Pete loves to TICKET CARS even if you think your parking was legal. BEWARE OF WEHRE AND HOW YOU PARK IN DOWNTOWN ST. PETE.
