I am in no way sympathetic toward convicted criminals, but if the goal of incarceration is reform, then this type of activity must be stopped. Keep in mind, most of these men will be back out on the streets and having been subjected to this type of debauchery will in no way contribute to making them productive members of society once released.

It isn't. The purpose of prison is to punish those who have committed crimes, and to remove them from society for a specified period of time.

That said, I don't approve of the types of things written about in this article.
