For Muslims, a Beleaguered Feeling

As Ramadan Begins, Many Say Sentiment Against Them Is Hardening

Many American Muslims believe that the U.S. government has contributed to the deepening of anti-Muslim sentiment by treating them more as foes than allies in the war against terrorism. They say the government has done this by singling out Muslims for special scrutiny at airports, investigating Islamic charities and detaining Muslims who eventually are found innocent of criminal activity -- all of which leads to a growing perception that the war on terrorism has become a war against Islam.

"I hear a lot of people saying that today, especially moderate Muslims, people I never thought would have this feeling," said Mohamed Magid, imam of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, a mosque in Sterling.

Echoing other Muslims, Magid said he fears that there is "some element in the [Bush] administration intent on dismantling Muslim organizations and bringing them down. . . . It's very disturbing."

The Los Angeles-based Muslims Public Affairs Council has expressed disappointment that no American Muslims were included in the drafting of the federal 9/11 Commission report, even in sections addressing the United States's relationship with the Muslim world.

The Moos worldwide have envisioned an Arab Union that specifically has no spot on the map for Israel...their plans have been curtailed until the FREE world wipes out terrorism, installs democracy...or has to quarantine Muhammadans from the civilized world permanently. Iraq was the land bridge from Iran through to Jordan, Syria and the ports there...

Five Churches Bombed in Baghdad

The Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq Oct. 16, 2004 — Bombs exploded at five churches across Baghdad early Saturday, but no casualties were reported, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.

The explosions rang out in quick succession over an hour and half starting at 4:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in the Nafaq Al-Shurta area, said ministry spokesman Col. Adnan Abdul-Rahman.

The other churches hit were St. Jacob's Church and St. George's Church in the Doura neighborhood, the Church of Rome in the Karrada neighborhood and St. Thomas Church in the Mansour area.

Abdul-Rahman said the churches all had some exterior damage, with windows blown out.

U.S. officials have been expecting a wave of insurgent violence with the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began Friday.

In August, coordinated attacks hit four churches in Baghdad and one in Mosul, killing at least seven people and wounding dozens more in the first significant strike against Iraq's minority Christians since the U.S. invasion began last year.

Iraq's community of 750,000 Christians has grown increasingly anxious at the rise of Islamic fundamentalism since the ouster of Saddam Hussein last year. Hundreds have fled to neighboring Jordan and Syria.

Gee, maybe if muslims didn't blow up Christian churches and murder innocent people during their so-called 'holy month' they wouldn't get such bad press, ya think???

Well, I hope so. When blonde Norweigan women start taking over airplanes and crashing them into buildings we'll start pulling them out of the line and giving them special scrutiny. Till then, sorry, but Middle Easter men fit the profile.

Oh yeah, then they will send money to their favorite muslim charity / child killing-beheading, church-bombing terrorist group and wonder why we all don't just love them!!

When a mosque becomes an international symbol akin to a Swastika, you have more than a 'perception' problem...

investigating Islamic charities and detaining Muslims who eventually are found innocent of criminal activity --

Being found "not guilty" of a criminal act, or not being prosecuted, is NOT the same as being innocent of performing the act, regardless of 'presumption of innocence'.

Ask OJ, if & when he isn't too busy looking for the 'real' killers.

If a woman of my discription killed a lot of people at a McDonalds I would not wonder why the police would signal me out at a check point for special attention. I would understand that they were doing their duty and were trying to catch the lady who did the crime who matched my discription.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that we need to check out muslims because there are muslims out there who are dedicated to our destuction. We mean no harm to the many who are innocent but must catch the quilty. We value our lives and are not willing to risk them to advoid hurting someone's overly sensitive feelings. You would think that they would understand that if we get killed they could very well get killed also.

"I also forgot that Muslims rushed in defense of Adolf Eichmann when he was tried in Israel and they called him a martyr and hero for executing the Holocaust."

I remember the Muslims (And a lot of Euro-peons, and even Americans) screaming to high Heaven about Eichmann, but, being the 16 YO I was, I just thought it was just more of the usual Jewish-"Arab" hate thing.

Seemed natural that the "Arabs" would idolize and want to protect a man who was responsible for killing so many Jews.

Nobody taught anything about the Muslim-Nazi connection. We were given the impression Muslims were treated as is if they were pretty much on the WWII sidelines, "used" by both sides as opportune, but not real participants. We "learned" WWI destroyed the decadent Ottoman Empire, and now Muslims were just a bunch of Bedouin camel drivers with antique muzzle loaders, and as much relevance in the world as Bushmen or natives of Borneo.

At that time I, like most Americans, equated Islam & Muslims with "Arabs".

Islam = terrorism, murder, boy-buggering, women-chattelling, slavery... I could go on and on and on.

Boo hoo.

If the Mullahs spent less time preaching hate and Muslim leaders denounced terrorism repeatedly and Muslims start tunring in terrorist they just might find a little more sympathy.

Remember the pictures of Muslims dancing in the street on 9/11.
