Kerry was "remarried" in 1995 in a civil ceremony. He first filed for an annullment (which has not been granted) in 1997.
There are some unknowns here (although I'm perfectly willing to believe that your narration is true.)
We do NOT know if the annulment was granted, unless Kerry, his ex-wife, or a Churchman actually said so on record.
IF the annulment was granted, Kerry could have had his marriage regularized, privately.
Admittedly, this would be something he'd be happy to have "out" unlike his Navy records...
But it's irrelevant. His excommunication is patented based on his heresy and support of abortion.
