He sends the same generic greeting every year, and 40 or 50 people here freak out every year. Geez, get a grip, folks.

"The best man at my wedding is a Muslim. He's currently leading a CH-53 squadron in Afghanistan.

I hardly consider him an enemy."

You're wasting your breath, I'm afraid. It's sad.

It borders on giving aid and comfort to the enemy, but we are supposed to accept it because he does it every year?

Your logic eludes me.

I'd love to send some ramadamn greetings!

Alas, they would violate posting guidelines.

So I won't. (Grin!)

It's tiresome, that's all. I have no more use for this so-called religion than anyone else. But if folks don't like him sending a ramadan greeting, write him a letter and let him know.

And, no, it doesn't. What Kerry did in 1971 gave aid and comfort to the enemy. GW has not acted anywhere close to that.

Good advice. Think I'll include Kwanzaa, too.

Well, that's a question, isn't it? If Franklin D. Roosevelt had issued a statement that the American people wished the National Socialists good tidings, or had Ronald Reagan issued a similar statement regarding the Soviets, there would have been hell to pay.

But now we live in a more "compassionate" era where we wish our enemies well.

Actually, Reagan wished the people of the then Soviet Union well on several occasions. Then he proceeded to outmaneuver their leaders. All the while, folks here who thought they knew better nipped at his heels, lamenting that he was not being more "forceful." Case in point, George Will saying Carter acted more forcefully to the invasion of Afghanistan than Reagan did to the suppression of Poland. But of the two, who got the job done?

LOL! I'm not used to hearing that! Especially around my house. :-)

I'm with you on Kwaanza, btw. Stupidest artificial holiday out there.

Bush's statement may have been directed to the people of Iran, not Iraq.

FDR may have sent birthday greetings to Hirohito - before Pearl Harbor.

This is the only action Bush can take - try to separate the regular Muslims from the psychotics. We, as a nation, are morally incapable of defeating Islam itself. Look at the problems we're having defeating a small Islamic city (Fallujah). Freepers can beat their chests about nuking Mecca, etc. but it all amounts to the loser's game of "would've, could've, should've".

That is great, you found 1, now for the other 2 billion and 30+ years of terrorism who should we trust????

I don't think the vast majority are like the best man at your wedding.
