He has told one tall tale too many to be credible. Think about it-- how else could he have married 2 millionaire heiresses, the poorest of whom was worth a mere $300 million?

Rewind the video tape! If he did fire the pistol, you bet that he had the local TV there. Oh wait! He was anti-gun in those days! (sarcasm off)

Wow! Running in the Marine Corps Marathon is really something.

BTW - Why would you single out Al Gore to say something nice about? Just curious.

The man who invented the internet, was the role model for Love Stroy, and lowered the water level in a river for a phot op, among other things..he ran and finished his first marathon at age 50 or so. that's an effort worth praising..

But isn't that the point: you just do not "drop in" on the Boston Marathon, right? Mr. M has qualified, has he not?

Gore ran the Marine Corps in 1997, just under 5 hours. Michael Dukakis, way back in 1951, ran the Boston Maraton in the very fast time of 3:31. Shoes, training strategies weren't so advanced then and Dukakis was still in high school.

There is an official record of Michael Dukakis completing the Boston Marathon. Same with Gore in Marine Corps (same race, different year) that Oprah ran. Oprah ran hers in 4:40 I think.

Gore ran it with his two daughters.. As I recall, they BOTH beat him by over an hour..It's a very easy course..pretty flat...and what hills there are, they're pretty gentle rises. I've run it twice..3:47 was my best..

Didn't know that about Dukakis..impressive....

Kerry is experienced at running...from the truth.

Official is official. He may have run on the same course as the Boston Marathon...but he did not run "IN" the Boston Marathon.

Well, if Kerry "ran" the Boston Marathon, then I did too, because I walked down Comm. Ave to watch the runners coming in at the finish line.

At least he didn't get lost.

Prior to the closing ceremony of this year's summer Olympics, Bob Costas did a very moving story of the 1946 Boston Marathon winner, a 1936 Greek Olympian who barely, (partly because he was an athlete in the Berlin games), escaped execution by the Nazis. Dukakis (these Greeks stick together) added some commentary. I don't believe Dukakis mentioned his run. Would not have been a good president, by I admire Dukakis' modesty.

My wife cried when Costas' segment ended.

Everyone lambasts Mikey for the pic of him in the tank, and it was awful..but the worst one was of him, in a three piece suit, tie, and wingtips, pushing a lawnmover on the grass..

This is the World of Commander McKerry Your hair will curl in the World of McKerry. He fights monsters galore! And then asks for still more! Or so says the brag of McKerry. When on the hill the marines plant a flag They may be led by Commander McKerry. With a cannon in hand He can beat any band Or so says the brag of McKerry. Fencing and fighting and round table knighting And slaying of dragons, too. Shipping and sailing and great harpoon whaling There's nothing McKerry can't do. Hunting and trapping and gold miner mapping And flying to Timbuktu. Roping and riding and Indian guiding Commander McKerry comes through. This is the World of Commander McKerry Your head will whirl in the World of McKerry. He can do anything In his world he's a king Or so says the brag of McKerry

Yes, Mr. M and the other contestants qualified for the 2005 race either by running a good enough time for their age group at the previous Boston Marathon (for which he also had to qualify), or by running a good enough time at another officially-sanctioned marathon, e.g., Richmond, Columbus, etc. People do "drop in" on the Boston Marathon. They're called bandits, and they don't have numbers pinned to their shirts. Anyone can butt into the race, but without a number (and thus, without an official timing chip tied to one's shoe), you don't get an official time nor any proof that you ran. It appears Kerry never ran as an official contestant, and it's highly unlikely he ever ran as a bandit.

I have this figured out y'all.

But to 'splain it, I must refer you to a person who wrote a book about his "hike" along the Appalachian Trail a few years ago. You may recall the name of the book: _A_Walk_in_the_Woods_ by Bill Bryson. The book is supposed to be a satire but is more like an expose' of a mean person's heart because he actually used the names of living people and made fun of them. Including some ugly humor made at the expense of an old woman who'd had a stroke. In the South, we call him "tacky" and he knows he's not welcome here.

The point that people who read this book miss is that Bill Bryson SAYS he Thru-Hiked the Appalachian Trail when in fact, he walked a few miles along the Appalachian Trail and "yellow blazed" (drove around) the rest of it. He wrote a book when he was through hiking but he is not a Thru-Hiker by any stretch of the imagination. Bill Bryson lives in New Hampshire, or did.

His Fellow New Englander, John Fn Kerry, also uses the same logic to say that he "ran the Boston Marathon" and "nearly shot a 16 point buck." He didn't REALLY do it, but he "planned" to or "intended" to or "might have" or it's on his wish list.

Hunters know that a 16-pointer is going down in the Boone and Crockett record book. With your photo. And a real hunter doesn't 'freeze' when he sees that 'monster buck' and forget to shoot. VENISON runs through his mind as he gently squeezes the trigger.

Someone needs to tell Kerry to get some background information on a subject before he goes and blows his hot air at people. He is NOT one of the "little people" and never will be. He can't even fake it, he's so pathetic.
