You can find great background information on obscenity prosecution and what the Clinton Administration did to it here. It's a PBS Frontline episode that you can watch online (if you have a high-speed connection) and the site has plenty of supporting documentation. The key point to understand here is that this isn't about Playboy and naked women or even kinky sex. It's about women being tortured on film for the gratification of others. The PBS Frontline crew was so disturbed by one of the film shoots that they attended that the crew had to leave. And, no, I don't think it's good to pay women to consent to being tortured for the pleasure of others.
