"Remember that infamous Oct. 8 memo from ABC News political director Mark Halperin, which instructed ABC correspondents to slant their reportage in John Kerry's favor? " conservative author Richard Poe said on his blog (www.RichardPoe.com).
"Well, it turns out that Halperin's father is none other than Morton H. Halperin, head of George Soros' Open Society Policy Center. Lowell Ponte reveals Mark Halperin's Soros connection in [yesterday's] FrontPageMagazine.com, in a stunning expose titled, 'The ABC's of Media Bias.' "

Okay, so why am I not surprised? What is surprising is that these people and their mindless robot followers continue to pretend this is out of the ordinary.
The media's incestuous relationship with politics made this the likely story.
Halperin Memo Dated Friday October 8, 2004
"It goes without saying that the stakes are getting very high
for the country and the campaigns - and our responsibilities become quite grave
I do not want to set off (sp?) and endless colloquy that none of us have time for today
- nor do I want to stifle one.
Please respond if you feel you can advance the discussion.
The New York Times (Nagourney/Stevenson) and Howard Fineman
on the web both make the same point today: the current Bush attacks
on Kerry involve distortions and taking things out of context in a way
that goes beyond what Kerry has done.
Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his (ed. ABC-supported) efforts to win.
We have a responsibility to hold both sides accountable to the public interest,
but that doesn't mean we reflexively and artificially hold both sides
"equally" accountable when the facts don't warrant that.
I'm sure many of you have this week felt the stepped up Bush efforts
to complain about our coverage.
This is all part of their efforts to get away with as
much as possible with the stepped up, renewed efforts
to win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions.
It's up to Kerry to defend himself, of course.
But as one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the
candidates are saying to serve the public interest.
Now is the time for all of us to step up and do that right."
are there any journalists at ABC or CBS that don't see themselves being manipulated by the wealthy donors who want to limit what they can report on?
Verry interesting; his father Morton Halperin is one of the biggest leftists in the foreign policy establishment and he would sign on to any anti-American initiative he could find. Proves my point: the network news is nothing more than the Propaganda Wing of the Democratic Party.
Even Peter Jennings? Say it ain't so.
One would hope so. At the least, we are nearing a tipping point that has the potential to shatter the MSM status quo. Now is the time for a younger, independent, journalist to rise up and challenge the existing power structure. The old guard dinosaurs are very close to extinction, if by nothing else than sheer age. We need honest journalists! Now's the time. Earn your fortune and name, and help your country and humanity at the same time. A great opportunity confronts you. Sieze it, sieze it now.
Someone else confirm this. I believe the father is the same Morton Halperin that worked for/with Henry Kissinger's State Dept in the early 70s. I believe Kissinger had his phone bugged because he believed Halperin was leaking US negotiating positions to either the North Vietnamese or the Soviets. Sound familiar to anyone with a long memory?

He is presently also with the Center for American Progress but it seems like he wants us to progress to a 'new world order' and less sovereignty. OTOH, having read some of his words, he is very smart and has some good ideas (bad ideas too) about how to fight terrorism.
