Here's the rumor: Bunning has dementia, and if he wins, he will resign and Fletcher will appoint himself to the Senate seat.

I work in Frankfort. My sense is that Mongiardo really could pull this off. Then again, I'm seeing 3 or 4 Kerry signs/bumber stickers for every Bush in my travels around Frankfort-Louisville-Lexington, yet Bush is up double digits in the polls. Very strange.

This poll is old, before a huge barrage of negative press last week. I'm a bit worried about this one now myself.

I live in Lexington, and have only seen a few Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers or yard signs. Kentucky has a pretty solid track record voting for the repubs and it will stay that way.

Have you noticed that lately governors keep getting accused of wanting to name themselves to the Senate? Tony Knowles, Ed Rendell, Mitt Romney, now Fletcher. Has a governor ever named himself to the Senate? If so, who and when?

I no longer convinced that GWB will carry this state. The unions have poured too much firepower into KY. They want a return on their investment, and they want it now.
