I have read a little about these new, smaller precsion-guided weapons and there was something on TV about a 250 lb
weapon the Air Force plans to roll out next year. Much smarter for urban areas as they can land on a dime but not take out the whole block when they detonate. Kind of expensive but in the long run very much worth the money.

"The bomb has been sought by Middle East allies."
When will our government learn that today's allies could very well be tomorrow's enemies. Don't sell it to them, but promise to deliver it to them if they cross us. Hear that Chirac?

Nice but I'm still a "bigger is better" kind of guy in war scenarios such as Faluja.

"This was the right weapon for the job," the lead pilot who carried out the mission, identified only as Lt. Col. Mitch, said. "If we used any bigger of a bomb, we would have caused unnecessary damage."
Yeah but the video is no where near as exciting as the full strength stuff.

MK-82: $1,900
JDAM Kit: $20,000.
Hellfire Missile: $60,000.
GBU-38 seems to be more cost effective than the Israeli's use of Hellfires. But then, an Appache can target a moving vehicle while the JDAM requires the entry of fixed coordinates.

I love the initials: GBU. Should be GB4U: George Bush 4 U. Or GBFU.

The allies are asking for them and the bad guys have already accepted delivery on two!

The GBU-38 was said to be significantly smaller and lighter than the GBU-12 and the GBU-31.
GBU-12 is 500 lb Laser Guided Bomb an older percision munition. And the GBU-31 is a larger version of a GBU-38, which uses the Mk-84 2000 lbs general purpose bomb.
Our Global Positioning Systems (GPS) makes fishing easy.

The GBU-38 was said to be significantly smaller and lighter than the GBU-12 and the GBU-31. So it's smaller bomb?.... would that make it a "baby boomer"?

"If we used any bigger ... bomb, we would have caused unnecessary damage."
IMHO, all the damage in that hornets' nest is NECESSARY.
