I've decided that the main reason Kamp Kerry made this coordinated attack on Mary Cheney wasn't to try to cause division within the conservative voters, although any of that would be gravy.

I believe the ultimate goal was to open a crack in the door of presidential debate civility level. Candidates children, up until last night, have been off-limits for political exploitation. The Edwards/Cahill/Kerry coordinated effort has set a precendence. It knocked a support out from under an unspoken agreement on the politicl playing field. After this, Republican children will be "fair game".

Of course the expectation will most certainly be that any Republican candidate hold firm to the old standard of respect for Dim families. But not for RAT candidates.

I agree with you. I think they thought Cheney would fly off the handle during the VP debate, and when that didn't work, Kerry though he'd try it on Bush. Boy, they should have known better than to piss off a mom....especially when that mom is Lynne Cheney!
