Maybe. If there is a sunset provision in the chance that congress keeps even one aspect of an income tax, better. If the income tax and the IRS is abandoned first, even better. And if the States drop all income taxes, better still. And, if the total tax take is less, much better. See, I have yet to drink the cool-aid.
As I understand it, and keep in mind I am not nearly as knowledgeable as others, the abandoning of the IRS and income tax is part of the package. I agree that the key element here is the total removal of any possibility of having the NRST as an additional system.
How does the Fed Legislature go about affecting State Taxes? That portion of your post seems completely irrelevant to this subject.....
How would you propose any tax reform if the current budgets are not met? I look at the NRST as a process and the first step is education of citizens regarding the cost of the largess they are demanding. This can only be done by forcing those demanding the largess to equally see the effects in their lives. Once the population sees the burden they will join my side of the fight to lower the largess!
I haven't drank the kool-aid either, yet I haven't heard any alternative that is more convincing than the NRST. If you have something else, let me in on it.
