I saw O'Neill on Fox News one night being interviewed and I do believe there is a statute of limitations on treason, so that very point was brought up. I purposely avoided using the word "traitor" because I am a writer by occupation and I am trying very hard in this piece to appeal to the voter who likes Kerry but needs to hear the truth and in order to hear the truth, they need to read through the whole article without stopping at one highly inflammatory word.

Admiral Hoffmann was funny when I talked to him because when I told him in the interview that O'Neill's interrogators (that's what it was) were really trying to get him to use the word "traitor" so they could turn it into a sound bite against him, O'Neill wouldn't be cornered like that. He carefully chose his words. The Admiral sort of looked up into the distance and said, "John's smarter than I am -- I called him a traitor!" lol! Yeah, I know what you're saying, but there are reasons sometimes not to just come out and say something point blank. Tactical reasons.

Thank you so much for the feedback, Gretchen.

I understand your point,
but a bunch of somebodies somewhere, in positions of media influence, ought to be calling a spade a spade.

I am tired of this pussyfooting political correctness.

Even if the statute of limitations has run out (thanks a lot, Mr. Nixon), it doesn't change what he did.
