For the doom and gloomers, where would you rather be right now: Where john kerry is, or where GWB is?
The debates are over. They will be pretty much forgotten by monday. Now the real fight begins.

I listened on the radio to this debate, and while I watched the others, I felt W came out having "connected" with the listener. I thought that W actually replied to Kerry's rehearsed and repeated talking points.
W came across humanely and somewhat intelligently, yet not condescendingly, unlike a certain Massachusetts Senator who started his run for the Presidency in 1968 with a Super8 camera...

Good stuff, thanks! I missed the debates tonight, but I am so thankful it went well for Bush.

Important points Hugh made on his website, but didn't include here:
What's the best indicator of Kerry's troubles? He and Edwards are campaigning and advertising almost exclusively in blue states, except for Florida and Ohio, and while recent polls in Ohio (though not in Florida) show good numbers for Kerry, the president's coming blitz through Ohio will get the state right back to where it was when the Columbus Dispatch poll had Bush up 7. Bush, on the other hand, is in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota etc.

For the doom and gloomers, where would you rather be right now: Where john kerry is, or where GWB is? This one is easy. Bush. It is much easier for him to get to 270 electoral votes than Kerry. If you go by the realclearpolitics.com map, all he needs to do is win Iowa, win Ohio, or win New Hampshire and New Mexico together. Kerry, by contrast, needs to run the table and also hang on to states in which he is barely ahead, such as Pennsylvania.
Of course, much can change in the next three weeks -- in either direction.

Hugh's blow-by-blow debate scorecard was precisely on-target. Everyone should check it out at his blog, for a recap of who won each question of the debate.

For the doom and gloomers, where would you rather be right now: Where john kerry is, or where GWB is? Over the last several weeks, at the times when I've felt the most concerned, I've asked myself that question. My response is the same every time -- I'll take GWB's position.

I'm as crazy as Hugh Hewitt. Its going to be a tough race but its not going to be a close one. Kerry needed to put Bush away tonight. Instead he got taken out. For me, to feel comfortable with a prospective President, he must be human - I can live with him even if I don't care for his views but he must be able to connect. A man who can't find a moment to say to his wife, "I love you," isn't someone I would care to see on my TV for the next four years. Bottom line: Kerry failed where Clinton would have managed to put it away.

I think Kerry is gonna start tanking in the polls from here on out. Just a hunch.

Unfortunately, W's best performance was on the night 2 ball games were going on. Like FOX panel said, had he done this well in first debate, election would virtually be over.

I think Kerry is gonna start tanking in the polls from here on out. Just a hunch. Yea, I agree and here is why - the internals. Kerry (and his handlers) KNOW he lost the last two debates. One could argue that he peaked too soon. I think he will begin to lose enthusiasm for the quest and begin to prepare for his future as the junior Senator from Massachusetts.
Watch for a gradual melt-down over the next week by both Kerry and Edwards. Well, that's my take anyway.

On the other hand, the Florida touch-screen "vote" was probably "cast" six months ago.
