My first impression was that Bush was much stronger on most of the issues.

In particular Kerry's positions on enlisting our "allies" to help with Iraq, finding and funding two more divisions without resorting to a draft or vast increases in taxes, etc., seemed not credible.

Also, Bush was quite able to admit mistakes and shortcomings and still look better than his opponent. That's impressive!!

I'm not sure about his responses to charges that his tax cuts for the wealthy were unfair and unaffordable. I think he avoided a straight answer.

Overall I thought he was great, but it did kind of bother me when he skirted the issue of minimum wage to talk about education. There are so many good arguments against federally coerced minimum wage, and he addressed none of them. Still, I've got to cut the guy some slack since education is one of his strongest issues and he wasn't asked about it directly.

One thing I noticed about this debate was how BORING Kerry was. His answers went on and on. His answers were almost a repeat of the first two debates. I thought at times there were points I wish Bush would have refuted but after seeing Kerry go back to questions when another question was asked only made him look defensive. So I'm kinda glad Bush didn't go that route. I also loved the comment Bush made directed towards the media. You know they'll be up in arms about it. Oh well... Bush's closing remarks made me teary. Not cheesy like Edwards. One thing I noticed is that Kerry painted doom and gloom about America. I think he realized it because he tried to turn it around in his closing comments whereas Bush portrayed optimism. Oh well, the media will spin who won the way they always do, in Kerry's favor. We'll just have to remember that this is nothing new and the people watching the debate can make up their minds without the MSM making it up for them.
