Personally, I feel these presidential debates are a waste of time. (and highly overrated)

It's a hold-over of the 60s generation's love of JFK. (sorry if that offends anyone)

I don't like them.

The Lincoln-Douglas debates were much more substantive, lasting for many, many hours.

Unfortunately the radio and television have shaped public perception in the direction of style and appearance, and away from logical analysis.
