"For what it's worth, the student was of consenting age for most of the countries in the world. Just pointing that out."
He was not in a position to consent. She, as the power-holder in the professional relationship (teacher/student, parent/child, therapist/patient, etc) had a professional responsibility to ensure that no such relationship would happen. For this reason alone, regardless of legality, if the accusations are, she should be fired and barred from teaching ever again.

And millions of little girls dream of marrying their daddy. Some fantasies are still abuse when the power-holder fulfills them.

About 10 years ago, my former social studies teacher was busted for having sexual relationships with several female students over a 10 year period for improved grades. One of those females was the daughter of a county commisioner.
The local outcry for Mr. K's head was enormous. I'm interested how the local community will react to this one, being that it's a female teacher instead of a male.

Yes, but on the job fraternization is a different issue that's set by company policy from sexual consent laws.

Congrats.

Lighten up We're talking about a case of statutory rape, by a person who is also in a position of responsibility.
This thread points out a different problem, too: allegedly adult males who use threads like this to get some sort of juvenile thrill.

That's probably the most twisted distortion of a post quote ever. Nope. It is merely uncomfortably close to the logic you're employing on this thread.

I guess calling her actions immoral, adultery, fornication, and sin, and calling for her to go to jail, just isn't enough for some people.

"on the job fraternization"
This has nothing to do with the manager at Burger King nailing the cashier. Certain professions require special rules because of the power gradient and the feelings that can come from that. I'm not talking about age of consent laws, which should be enforced seperately, but rather about the professional responsibility which is usually codified into rules that result in immediate termination and/or other sanctions when they're broken.

We can discuss those issues on those threads. Here, the question involves sex between adults and minors. I'm not taking any position here other than such sex is wrong.

Yes it is. We have folks here cheering for a teacher having sex with a student. Female teacher/male student = cheer. Any other combination = boo.
I find that ugly.

I agree. But, depending on the details (which we don't know) she is either involved in a loving, caring relationship with a younger man, or she is a predatory ghoul raping and stealing the innocence of a young boy. Oh Please! Give me a break!

So, it would be the same if the student was a 16-year-old girl and the teacher a man? She'd be of consenting age, too. There's an ugly double standard going on here.

LOL!
You know, Time magazine ran a story about 15 years ago where they determined that --get this-- males and females are different.
You must have missed it.

The same thing happened in this same county 10 years ago, but the teacher was male, and one of his victims was the daughter of a county commisioner. The locals were ready to lynch him.
IIRC...He got 10 years.
