Priceless Encounter

This is a great story from a friend of a friend of a friend up in WA.

~Pete

Last Thursday I put out one of my Bush/Cheney signs in my front yard. Between midnight and 3:00 a.m. someone stole it. On Friday night I put out sign No. 2. Since I didn't have to get up early, I thought my dog and I would "stake out" our sign. This time I put the sign a little closer to the gate leading to my backyard. With my dog on an extra long leash, I planted myself on a lawn chair and read "Unfit for Command" by flashlight until about 1:00 a.m. Here comes the fun part . . . I noticed that the car coming down the street was slowing down and pulling over to the curb right next to my yard. Sure enough, he gets out of his car and heads right for my sign. Just as he was about to uproot and desecrate it, I opened my gate and let my dog make the initial introduction! As he ran to hide behind the rear end of his car, I promptly moved to the driver-side door, which was still open. It was a fairly nice car with power everything and still running. While my dog continued to "introduce" herself, I rolled up the window and hit the power door lock button. With that, I slammed the door, grabbed my Bush sign and headed into the back yard.

And now for the "rest of the story." About 40 minutes later, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to one of our city's finest . . . the Vancouver Police Department. The officer asked me what was going on and when I told him, he could not stop laughing! I followed him out to the perp's car and stood there while he asked the guy a few more questions. Upon learning that the guy lived a couple of streets down, I -- knowing what was about to happen -- asked him, "Why do you have Oregon plates on your car if you live just down the street (here in Vancouver, Wash.)?" Larry, Oregon has no sales tax, so often Washington residents will buy and register cars in Oregon to avoid paying sales tax . . . it's a crime and the fine is pretty stiff. Here comes the best part. . . . The look on this guy's face told me he knew he was about to get busted. When the officer asked for his license and registration, the "Democrat" mumbled that (his license) was suspended. Just for kicks and giggles I asked the officer if he smelled any alcohol coming from the guy! The officer looked at me, smiled and promptly gave him a field breathalyzer test. Guess what? You got it, he blew a .10, legally drunk in the state of Washington.

DUI, illegal registration and the brand of "MORON," all 'cause he hates Bush!

Sincerely,

Cost of Bush signs: $5.95 each Cost of Flashlight batteries: $3.95/Pack Seeing a Leftwing Numbskull carted off to the hoosegow: Priceless.

I got this story from a Republican Party activist in Los Angeles.

I think this has been posted here before, but I can't remember where. I've definitely read this before though, but the first time it was somebody's mother that caught the sign-stealer. Could be an urban legend...but a good one at that and a great idea!!

Makes me wish I had a dog! That story ranks pretty high on the "priceless" meter. Thanks for sharing.

Good job. Serves that thieving, tax-cheating, Dumbarat right, and gets a drunk with no license off the street (at least for a while). With any luck, maybe he'll still be in jail on November 2, and won't be able to vote.

With most cars, the lock will pop open again if no one is in the drivers seat. Cute story but sounds suspicious.

Most cars? Its the first I've heard of such a thing. But then again 2 of our 4 vehicles have manual locks. This definitely smacks of urban legend but not for that reason.

Maybe it was posted before, but this is the first I have heard of it. This is just an observation, but not all of us spend 24-7 on the Internet. I enjoyed the post even if it is an urban legend.

None of the cars I own or have owned will pop open the locks if no one is in the driver seat. All late model Ford & GM products. Maybe the foreign stuff like Dodge, Toyota, etc. will.

Could've fooled me...I accidentally got locked out of my GMC truck ('99 model) when I got out to clean the ice off of the windshield when I was visiting my mom last year...the truck was running. Had to have mom drive me to the local dealership to get an extra key made to get back into the truck, the truck ran for almost an hour before I was able to get back into it. Oh well...at least it was thawed out real good by then, LOL!

Neither my 1998 nor 2001 Tauruses would let you step out and lock the door behind you. Lock pops right back up. Nice feature actually, but you have to use the key or remote to lock the door when you just want to warm up the car.

I locked myself out of a warm, running 1973 Plymouth Duster on a subzero Detroit night back in the 80's. Luckily someone with a coat hanger drove by and I was back in my car in about 20 seconds.

a few days ago i was cleaning my bicycle on the front porch when this attractive young woman came up to me with a clip board and ACT button and started talking to me about the upcoming election, asking typical referential stuff, for some reason she made a comment about the ugly pickup with the pro-bush and "I love Haliburton" stickers on it across the street. With this i smiled and said its mine and yes i will be voting for bush and she took off in a hurry.
