SEATTLE -- A federal judge in Seattle Friday sentenced a Pakistani cab driver living in British Columbia to 17 months in prison for smuggling nine people across the border near Blaine in May.
Court documents say agents of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement received intelligence that 31-year-old Muhammad Qasum Lala was smuggling people into the United States.
