It occurs to me in reading the article that the main dude, Abdalla Deiab, owned a 'large moving truck' and operated a moving business. This would be about the largest commercial vehicle that would normally be available and still stay under the Fed's screen of commercial transport trucking ownership.
Second, the very nature of a small, local moving business lends itself to 'cash-n-carry' operations, making it ideal for laundering money in both directions.
Last, a small moving company provides a natural cover for a small group of guys [read: cell] to operate together.
And then, or course, there's the vehicle itself...
Also, if they're buying used 'unmarked' emergency vehicles, they must be involved with an auto body front operation of some type in order to restore them... Another natural cover for a 'group' of guys working together.
Just some random thoughts...
