It has been mentioned in earlier thread that AQ was not happy with Al-Jazera because they were not showing the whole video tape. Maybe they went directly to ABC hoping that the tape would be played in its entirety to the American people.

Perhaps, didn't read that. But this tape is such an outlier from previous behavior that it even took the Jihadi's on the internet off guard. From Fullwave @ TT, they still appear to be trying to figure it out too.

It is just my (strongly held) opinion.
But I agree it is not the majority view.
Decapitation was probably not a primary AQ motive.

My opinion is based on still-unproven allegations regarding the complicity of national governments in the 9/11 operation. If you accept the view that 9/11 was solely an AQ operation with no other governmental involvement (Iraqi, Iranian, etc), then looking at 9/11 primarily as an attempted decapitation makes little sense.

I think folks will be arguing about the origins of 9/11 as long as the JFK assassination.

Will enjoy some long chats then, I suspect!

Though, one wonders what our priorities will be then!

"Bush has been re elected."

Maybe the game plan was to release this just after the election and something has prodded the early release (something else in the news perhaps?)

"The piercing of tubes, said the expert chosen by the people of Caronia, Franco Valenti, is a phenomenon easily
explicable in terms of a cathode current that, not finding an outlet via an electric item, heads towards the water
pipes thus causing an effect called the partridge eye."

What is the source of the electron stream? Is this due to polar shifting/natural phenomena or a man made side effect to a Balkan Tesla toy?

Can't help but think of that artic Russian complex near the Severnaya.

I don't have any answers to your questions.

Tried googling "partridge eye" and didn't come up with anything related to piercing of water pipes. Weird stuff.

Thanks for the ping, Vel. I cannot wait to see the video and get a transcript. Someone on FOXNews yesterday during the late afternoon claimed there was a multi-page initial transcript of it. He didn't say who had it, maybe it was abc.

JP, it appears the video tape was forwarded to abc's bureau in Islamabad. The courier who delivered it came from Peshawar and he claims the video was filmed in the Pakistan tribal region.

Militants Claim they are in Possession of NUCLEAR Weapon in Iraq! Source: Al-Arabiya Television | 10:32:05 AM EST

I believe that this is a misinterpretation of the news. A terrorist group in Iraq has claimed they possess the 380 tons of high grade explosives alledgely missing from AlQaaqa. These explosives are of the quality level to be used in nuclear weapons. Notice the 400 tons = 380 tons similarity. Machine translations can mess things up contexturally.

If we accept that this is psy-ops (whether or not it is actually followed by an attack), then it may be helpful to view this in the context of the dilemma faced by authorities each time they must consider how to respond to a given threat (for instance, how to deal with the alert level).

The enemy psy-ops have value to them even if no attack follows a threat as it generates threat fatigue leading up to actual attack, incurs economic cost if an alert is issued, and probes our defenses by attempting to force us to "show our hand".

The value of enemy psy-ops increases exponentially as the potential domestic audience increases. The immediate pre-election environment is ideal for them for this reason as the potential political impact of threats and associated potential attacks have enormous relevance to an extremely tight election where national leadership could be decided by several thousand if not several hundred votes in a handful of key states in a nation of close to 300 million.

For an enemy psy-op communication to be effective it has to be communicated. Jazeera has taken to editing and even withholding tapes. Internet sites can be shut down and authenticity is more questionable, so it was physically delivered in Wazirstan with Sahab "markers" to signal it is a bona fide AQ tape.

Why ABC? Foreign broadcasters can more easily suppress the information. Delivering this directly to an American outlet is not a hot potato, it is a hand grenade. It is much more likely to leak (even if it is never released) in an American rather than a foreign context. And even if the entire tape is never released, much of the sought damage is already done by virtue of its simple existence.

Put yourselves in the shoes of an adversary and ask yourself how it might be possible to (at least temporarily) politically destabilize the United States.

It cannot be done easily, but possibly at very specific times under a certain set of conditions a very short window of opportunity could be created. Actions will be sought (psychological or physical) that maximize uncertainty. Counteractions should be sought that maximize certainty, confidence, and legitimacy.

Hmmm...seems that videotape is also meant for muslim consumption with its arabic subtitling.

Well, if the lamestream media refuse to air it (and if they do I doubt they will air all of it) then I hope we can get it from the web.

I wonder what GWB's position is about public viewing of the video.

I believe you're correct, Godzilla.

When you read even the machine translation, it sounds like the jihadi's are taking credit for being in possession of the 400 tons of 'misplaced' WMDs from alQaQaa.

I was thinking Tesla or some type of laser weaponry.

Also Italy has been having problems with Islamic gypsies for years. Not as bad as France, but they are making in roads via illegal immigration.
