You're right. I was just so disappointed with the Sun-Times. Compared to the Tribune, they seemed almost "fair & balanced". At least they publish Mark Steyn's articles.

I expect the "pragmatists" will carp, the real conservatives will cheer, the MSM will distort, and the voters in Illinois will move, a bit towards Alan.... those who listened, anyway.

The transcript should prove edifying.

But for certain folks, here at FR and elsewhere, as Scripture says, "Eyes they have, but see not, ears, but hear not. Those who make them are like them."

Still, way to go, Alan. Nothing in this life is done utterly in vain.

Maybe the reason Lynn Martin didn't get the moderate "swing voters" is that they supported Simon, who supported Dewey over Truman, much to his everlasting regret!

Keyes sounded great on the radio! We're all waiting for a first hand report. I bet he came across even better in person.

Excellent observation. Keyes came off as sure footed and reasonably. Obama seemed liked he was being overwhelmed by Alan Keyes's oratory skills.

Just got on, and haven't read much of this thread, but that comment is certainly a very accurate take on what I saw tonight.

Dr. Keyes comported himself exactly the way he had to given his underdog positioning and the way the moderators were framing their questions and approach.

He needed to get his philosophy out there on the table in a blitzkrieg manner given the situation. Hopefully, in the last two debates he can start focusing in on Obama's record and a more structured precise approach to the issues, but this "free associating" session was probably the best initial foray into the awareness of the Illinois people. Cheers!

The guy is a narcissistic freak way out of his depth, and it's a shame so many people on FR have so much emotionally invested in him.

I ended up in the hotel ballroom to listen with the 300-400 or so wonderful Keyes folks who showed up to offer their moral support.

Upon Alan's arrival they stood in the rain and cheered him on as he entered the Old State Capitol Building. Dr. Keyes spoke briefly to the crowd and hit a homerun...speaking of the need to clean up the corrupt politics of the State of Illinois.

I was standing about 6 feet away anchoring the banner that was over his head as he spoke. :-)

By the way, even though the Obama campaign put out the word that their people needed to show up outside the building, too, the most I ever saw was about 6 or 8 weirdos with Obama signs. ;-)

I saw Obama outside the hotel afterwards, and frankly he looked like a 22 year-old punk.

I talked to a number of people who were in the room, and they said that when it was over Obama looked like he didn't want to be there.

I saw Alan afterwards, and he was in fine fettle, as he well should have been.
