I'd say this is fanaticism which is at a perfect level. Just enough to be a "Nuiscense" to make the people concerned for political statement, but not quite enough to result in any action.

The prelude to terrorist attacks could be called Kerryism. Just that annoying background noise of the masses who as long as they kill each other in a steady drip, government sails like windsurfing Nantucket. Let things slip up and people get attacked in any greater number than ten at a time, and it's no longer Kerryism, it's become terrorism.
