Yes those were different times. The libs don't understand the term, "Context of Time". Sad ain't it?

Qsama was helping the war against Russia in Afghanistan and so were we..We therefore did have the same goals..and some relationship..He had the Saudis funds. We were working closely with the ISI in Pakistan. It was the cold war..
The relationship is exagerrated by the left..but there was one.
It was going long after cold war. Examples was the fight of Russian/Iranian sponsored Northern Alliance against Taliban, Serbian resistence to Muslim expansion in Bosnia and Kosovo and Western moral/diplomatic support for Muslim separatists in Chechnya.
This ended after 9/11 (US turned against Taliban and asked N.A. for help, lowered pressure on Russia in Caucasus, put Serbs on the back burner), but not completely.
One assumes it is only a matter of time before you are called a "liberal troll" for pointing this out.
It's all about oil?..We made mistakes..and the details of what the CIA was doing when the FBI had Osama on it's wanted list are dependent on who is writing the article..
The fact is we didn't seem to have a clue what the growing Wahhabi monster ,Islamofascism, was going to unleash on the world.
The Chechnya, Pakistan, Kosovo, etc. links are disturbing.
I still say it was the cold war mindset that allowed this to occur...Messy isn't it?
Not a chance!
EC is stirring up the troops, attempting to demoralize and keep us away from the polls so we can purge the party, become a minority out of power and carp from the sidelines..but by golly we'll be pure and have our principles./S
The thing is, if we don't win the war on terror, do the social issues mean a damn thing?
The answer is no.
William F. Buckley favored the legalization of drugs - I disagree with that. Should he have been booted out of the movement for it? I personally do not care for most of the culture war - I'd rather the government butted out of such things. Do I deserve the boot?
Frum does have it right on a number of issues - particularly the big issue of our time, the war against terrorism. Those who would, in a fit of ideological purity, drive people out of the conservative movement, only help the left in my opinion.
I score him a big THUMBS DOWN. Troll confidence is high, repeat, confidence is high.
Do we need to stalk him?
That seems to be the point of EC's postings..I've already fought this war.....Think about Kerry in charge of this country's security.
As the US Navy says in submarine hunting...
"Prosecute to kill."
And after each debate, Kristol says that Bush lost. It fires me up to write FoxNews and tell them what an idiot Kristol is. The same goes with Kondrackie(spelling?) and even Fred Barnes to som extent.
Agree. Those who want to understand "neo-conservatism" need only google "Leo Strauss" and read his bio. There is little conservative about the neo-conservative. To call that moniker a "misnomer" would be an understatement. Strauss is one of the founders of the neo-con movement.
You are misinformed...but is one of the theories out there.
Tin foil hat out of storage now.
