I'm "hooked" as well and had my family tree nearly completed but it was on a propriety program by ancestry.com so I can no longer open it. I need to contact them other than by email in hopes of getting my access back. This stemmed from identity theft of CC info which forced me to cancel and get another. I was dropped by ancestry without question or comment.

You may still be able to access your family tree online.

Ancestry.com (pay site) mirrors uploaded family tree information for free on http://www.rootsweb.com.

Just go to rootsweb and search on one of your ancestor's names.
