(CNSNews.com) - A liberal group dedicated to "correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media" is furious that Sinclair Broadcasting plans to have its stations air an "anti-Kerry attack film" between now and Nov. 2.
"Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes," said David Brock, CEO of Media Matters, in a letter to Sinclair Broadcasting.
In his letter, Brock warned Sinclair that airing the film "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal" could be a violation of broadcast regulations requiring equal time for political candidates -- as well as a violation of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law.
According to the "Stolen Honor" website, the film is a "documentary exposing John Kerry's record of betrayal."
A film excerpt printed on the website quotes a former Vietnam POW as saying that Kerry "committed an act of treason. He lied, he besmirched our name and he did it for self-interest. And now he wants us to forget."
"Stolen Honor" was produced by Carlton Sherwood, a former investigative reporter and thrice-wounded (and decorated) Marine Corps combat veteran.
The website says the documentary received its initial funding entirely from Pennsylvania Veterans. It notes that since the Stolen Honor website was activated in late August, additional funds have been received from individuals and entities nationwide.
"No political campaign, candidate or political party have been involved in any way in the financing or production of Stolen Honor," the website says.
On the film's website, Sherwood tells readers, "Intended or not, Lt. Kerry painted a depraved portrait of Vietnam veterans, literally creating the images of those who served in combat as deranged, drug-addicted psychopaths, baby killers."
In his letter to Sinclair Broadcasting, Brock wrote, "I don't have to remind you... (that) fourteen of the 62 stations the company either owns or programs are in the key political swing stations of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where the presidential election is being closely fought."
Brock, in a press release, also pointed to press reports saying that in the 2004 political cycle, Sinclair executives have given nearly all of their $68,000 in political contributions to Republicans.
Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" -- the film that spawned so many election-year "documentaries"-- made its video store debut last week.

Obvious double standard.
My wife went to rent a DVD this weekend and she said that F911 was flying of the shelves. She said that Blockbuster had sold everything they had out for sale and all of the copies that were on the shelves to rent were checked out. So it is apparent that Michael Moore is going to be able to reach anyone who has an interest.
But, lets deny a small documentary that is going to reach a limited audience, where is the outrage from the liberals at the obvious double standard(sarcasm)?
Anybody got contact information for Sinclair and the stations in their group?
I see...and did this group raise objection at the numerous times 60 Minutes has aired anti-Bush stories, all of the books, and now, the forged documents?
Did this group raise objections now that it has been revealed that ABC has been intentionally slanting its news stories to make Bush look bad and Kerry look good? No? Well, then, who cares about this letter.
Sinclair could broadcast this every day until the election and it still wouldn't make up for what has been thrown Bush's way.

That icon of American values?
That alleged "journalist" that recently discovered his closet was too small?
Just why in the world would anyone care what David Brock says?
It would be like listening to Arianna Huffington.
This is GOOD news. Let the liberals demand that the film be banned. It will only give it more publicity. Go, Brock, Go!
I think they should broadcast both. I think it would be a great idea to broadcast Farenhype 911 and the to braodcast Moore's piece of crap for "equal time" That would give the viewers an opportunity to see how distorted Moore's movie is, and give them their "equal time"
Perhaps Brock should get Dan Rather to rebroadcast his Bush/National Guard memo program?
David Crock strikes again.
How is Sinclair's showing of Stolen Honor any different, except being the truth, than Dan Forger's 1988 "documentary" The Wall Within? In Forger's story, he had 5 or 6 "Vietnam vets" describe unspeakable atrocities that they had committed. B.G.Burkett, no not that Burkett, co-author of Stolen Honor, debunked the story, proving that only 1 of the so-called "vets" had been to Vietnam, and that he had not seen combat. When the Forger was confronted with the true facts, he said,"we stand by our story".
In 1988 GHWB was running for President.
About 17 minutes into Stolen Honor it shows Kerry talking to Steve Pitkin. This supports Steve's story about being coached in what to say by Kerry himself.

DONE, LET'S FLOOD THEM WITH 100,000+ EMAILS!
Talk about the "mote in thy brother's eye"!
Could very well be true. Maybe a little last second moto to get after the liberals in this country.
Our side needs to develop a counter for media matters. That is something positive that we could do.
