Sen. John Edwards on Fox News Sunday (TRAIN WRECK ALERT)
Fox News Sunday ^ | Sunday, October 10, 2004

Posted on 10/11/2004 12:12:35 AM PDT by igoramus987

WALLACE: Senator, the numbers don't add up... Well, I want to follow up on precisely that point, because in Friday's debate, Senator Kerry said that he would cut the deficit in half during his first term, he would cut taxes for the middle class, but he also had all these new spending programs.

Are you saying right here and now that if the numbers, when you get into office, don't add up, that it's the spending programs that go first?

EDWARDS: Yes...

WALLACE: But again, just to clear it up, I just want to make clear that you're saying that even Kerry's cherished health-care plan, he would cut that back before he would add to the deficit or raise taxes on the middle class?

EDWARDS: We will not raise taxes on the middle class, as John said clearly. And we will cut back -- we will cut back on our programs if it's necessary to make sure that that happens.

WALLACE: ...you attended just three of 36 meetings of the Judiciary Committee, the worst record of any member of that panel, and you attended just four of 13 public meetings of the Intelligence Committee.

For someone who's been in the Senate less than a full term, isn't that a problem?

EDWARDS: No, I'll tell you exactly what happened. I was in -- the first several years I was in the Senate, I had almost a perfect attendance record. And then I watched what was happening under this administration... but at that point, I came to the conclusion that the only real solution to this was to get George Bush out of the White House. And that's when I decided to run for president, and that's the period of time that they're talking about.

What other job can you take, then after a year, go for a promotion and never do the job you were hired to do in the first place and still get paid for it.

Up late again?

I couldn't bear to watch Edwards today,
on any of the Sunday shows, and I understand
he was on every dang one of 'em.

WALLACE: Senator, we have a couple of minutes left, and I want to tackle a couple of issues with you.

In your debate last week with Vice President Cheney, he attacked your record in the Senate. But what got all the attention was the question of whether or not the two of you had met.

But there's another part of what he said that I want to ask you about. According to the news reports, you attended just three of 36 meetings of the Judiciary Committee, the worst record of any member of that panel, and you attended just four of 13 public meetings of the Intelligence Committee.

For someone who's been in the Senate less than a full term, isn't that a problem?

EDWARDS: No, I'll tell you exactly what happened. I was in -- the first several years I was in the Senate, I had almost a perfect attendance record. And then I watched what was happening under this administration.

I mean, I had to fight this administration tooth and nail in their efforts to roll back our clean air laws. John McCain and Senator Kennedy and I wrote the patients' bill of rights, got it passed in the Senate. They blocked it. We fought to make sure we did something about drug company advertising on television. They blocked it.

I helped write the laws after September the 11th to keep this country safe, but at that point, I came to the conclusion that the only real solution to this was to get George Bush out of the White House. And that's when I decided to run for president, and that's the period of time that they're talking about.

I don't see an answer to Wallace's question in there, do you?

Same problem...
can't sleep...
not feeling good
About Edwards. God, I hate that guy. I won't watch anymore political stuff until election day. I got a call today and I'm probably going to work the polls! Hopefully, it'll be the one near my house. I think the old geezers that worked it for years are becoming a little intimated by the voting machines! We'll see. Check your mail in a few seconds.

Oh yes, I've often times decided I wanted a promotion and so then decided not to show up for work and continued to get paid. Works like a charm.

I say they start clocking in and out, just like the union folk that support them.

No, he rarely answers the question posed.
He's a slick, sick, lying lawyer who has
been absent most of his term in the senate
running for VP.

His selection was Kerry's biggest mistake.
Edwards won't carry one Southern state!

So...his dismal attendance record is (drum roll, please)...Bush's fault. Why, of course! [Hits self in head.]

Kerry has a record for pushing for raising taxes.

So Edwards only looks like a fool when he claims that they would cut spending.

THE ONLY SPENDING THEY WOULD CUT WOULD BE NATIONAL SECURITY.

Last time I checked....welfare had not done squat to stop terrorists and other enemies of our country.

AS for Edwards pathetic way to spin his Senate NO SHOW record.....he looked like a bigger fool on that issue.

You can hide from your record. I think Edwards can say goodbye to politics after Nov 3.

Audio of Edwards saying "I think Iraq is the most serious and imminent threat to our county, and I think Iraq and Saddam present the most serious and imminent threat."

Looking at his record, one could assume that if he were to be elected VP, he's be absent over 75 percent of the time; running for POTUS, no doubt.

So his excuse is that he started running for President starting his first year in the Senate?!

Gotta wonder what folks in his state think about that.

No I think they should have to apply to the President of the Senate or the Speaker of the House of Representatives for an excused absence every day the Senate and HOR are in session. The accepted reasons for absence should be the same as other federal employees. The absences and reasons should be printed on the front page of the the Congressional record. Attendance records of 50% or less for should be looked at by the states as abandonment of the seat and referred to the Governor of the state represented for replacement appointment. I don't care who it is. Democrat or Republican, it seems that getting elected to either is a guaranteed paycheck no matter what. Real life doesn't work that way.

I'd go for that, except 50% attendance is way too low.

LOL!
Yeah, I reckon he'd use the time to run for
POTUS... Kerry has had prostrate cancer, so
Edwards could always "hope" for a relapse.
